ACS Construction Grout can be used for general purpose grouting where it is necessary to eliminate shrinkage. However it is specifically designed as a ‘dry pack’ or ‘rammable’ grout. It is a versatile, non-shrink cement based grout. It is supplied as a ready to use powder, which is made up of a blend of Portland cement, pozzolanic material, graded fillers and chemical additives.
USES
- Tilt up concrete panels
- Precast structures such as columns and footings
- Stanchion and bearing plates for columns and machinery bases
- Patching bolt holes and formwork defects
- Used in underpinning

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Preparation
The foundations or void to be filled should be clean, well roughened and pre-saturated with water. Eliminate external sources of vibration or movement until the grout hardens.
Mixing
Depending on the quantities required, use either a paddle mixer or a heavy-duty variable speed electric drill (i.e. Festo grout mixer).
Pour the required water content into the appropriate mixing vessel (minimum 25 litre capacity) and slowly add the contents of the ACS Construction Grout bag. Mix for approximately five minutes or until lump free.
Water Content
The actual amount of water will depend on the desired consistency required for the job. The content of the water required will vary depending on the ambient temperature when the job is being carried out.
For any given consistency, more water will be required at high temperatures and less at low temperatures.
To assist with water content, the following guide can be used for 20 kg of grout mixed at 20°C:
WATER CONTENT GUIDE
Consistency | Litres/20kg bag | ||
Stiff | 3.7 - 3.9 | ||
Plastic | 4.0 – 4.2 | ||
PLACEMENT
Note: When mixing water content, care should be taken that the amount used will not cause the mixed grout to bleed excessively or segregate.
Placement
ACS Construction Grout should be placed as soon as possible after mixing (within 20 minutes at 23°C).
As a ‘dry pack’ apply the grout by placing and tamping the grout into the void. This is best achieved by applying the grout in layers of approximately 20mm. Then using a wooden ramming tool, tamp into place ensuring complete compaction.
Curing
On completion of the grouting process, areas that are exposed should be thoroughly cured.
Using a curing compound or the continuous application of water for a period of seven days will provide the best results.
ESTIMATING DATA
A 20kg bag of ACS Construction Grout when mixed with three litres of water, will yield approximately 10 litres (0.010m³).
STORAGE
ACS Construction Grout will keep for up to 12 months if kept in a dry store and the bags remain sealed. High temperature and high humidity conditions may reduce the storage life of the product.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
During use, avoid inhalation of dust and contact with the skin and eyes. Wear suitable clothing, gloves, eye protection and respiratory protective equipment.
If contact with the skin occurs, thoroughly clean the area with plenty of fresh water and soap. In case of contact with the eyes rinse with plenty of fresh water and seek medical advice.
If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately – do not induce vomiting.
